# Step 1: Create a root AWS account

If you already have an AWS account, you can skip this step and proceed to the next one.

> required to verify your identity. Don't worry. You won't be charged anything
> unusual. Scale to Zero AWS Kit also has budget alerts in case you experiment
> with any services and forget to turn them off.

> In the last step of creating an AWS account, you will be asked to select a
> support plan. Select the Basic support - free.
